Welcome back to our blog! Today, we're going to explain how we handle a tricky plumbing issue known as "back-fall" by using expert tunneling and drain repair techniques right here in Texas.
Discovering the Issue
We were called to a home where the owner had to constantly clear blocked plumbing lines. Surprisingly, he had his own sewer machine due to the frequent issues! A detailed camera inspection revealed that the pipes were sloping backwards—instead of allowing waste to exit toward the city sewer, they were directing it back toward the house.
Implementing a Strategic Solution
To tackle this, we took on a significant tunneling project under the house. This allowed us to access the entire length of the affected pipes and correct their slope.
Steps to Effective Drain Repair:
- Professional Tunneling: We dug a 60-foot tunnel beneath the house, a necessary step for accessing and repairing the problem areas. This tunneling process is a specialized service we offer in Texas, essential for addressing deep plumbing issues without disturbing the home's surface.
- Correcting the Pipe Slope: By lowering the pipes 4 to 5 inches (up to 14 inches in some areas), we ensured they had the proper slope to facilitate correct wastewater flow.
- Overcoming Structural Barriers: Encountering house beams along the way, we partnered with drilling experts to navigate these obstacles. This allowed us to reroute the pipes efficiently and maintain the necessary slope.
- Ensuring Long-Term Stability: We installed robust fittings and hangers to secure the new pipe layout, guaranteeing that the repaired system would function reliably for many years.
